A Place to Create, Connect & Thrive

Established in 2011, the HUB Supported Studios provide learning disabled and autistic artists a place to meet, connect and develop their creative practice under the guidance of professional artists.  

From our newly refurbished City Centre base, in the heart of the Newcastle Creative Central Zone, we provide opportunities for our studio artists to engage with the local arts scene though our exciting programme of public facing exhibitions and events. 

We are passionate about promoting the cultural equality of learning disabled artists and their ability to make exciting art, challenging preconceptions and demanding the recognition of their status as artists.

What Happens at The Hub

Our Supported Studio sessions run Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3.30pm and are led by a team of professional artists and support workers. We pride ourselves on the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere in our studio, where artists can explore their creativity and develop at their own pace. 

Every day is different in the Studio, where creativity takes many forms, from painting, sculpture and printmaking to textiles, digital media & presenting. 

Every artist is encouraged to try new things, share ideas and contribute in their own way to the rich creative community that defines Arcadea. 

Beyond the Studio

The Hub artists are active participants in the wider cultural life of the city and beyond.

They regularly:

• 🎨 Exhibit work in professional galleries 
• 🎭 Collaborate with other artists and organisations
• 📻 Host a weekly radio show on Nova Radio DAB, sharing their voices, music and creativity with a wider audience.

We’re always looking for new collaborations and creative partnerships, opportunities that connect our artists with public life and celebrate the diversity of artistic expression.
